Paneer

Paneer, also known as cottage cheese is widely used in North Indian cuisine. It is highly nutritious and can be easily made at home, though it is available in most of the supermarkets. How to make paneer at home? Paneer is made by curdling milk using a food-derived acid.Full fat, fresh milk is brought to a boil and either lime juice or vinegar or curd(as it contains lactic acid) is added which causes the curdling. The milk solids are then separated from the whey using a muslin cloth and pressed to get slabs of paneer. So,next time you add salt to milk instead of sugar, don’t worry!Add some lime juice and make delicious paneer out of it!

As seen in the nutritional information above, paneer is a rich source of protein. It is a perfect substituent for meat in a vegetarian diet.
